the Town of Cedar Bluff, County of Cherokee, State of Alabama, met in Regular
Scheduled Session in the Council Room at Town Hall, 3420 Spring Street, Cedar

At this time Mayor Baker deviated from the regular agenda to allow Fire Chief J. P. Curry to introduce some of his firefighters and to demonstrate the turnout gear purchased by the Cedar Bluff Fire Department. Chief Curry thanked the Council for allowing his to purchase the gear and advised he had purchased enough gear to outfit eighteen (18) firefighters. The firefighters in attendance were as follows:

AGENDA ITEM NO. 7: Presentation of Parks and
Recreation Report by Nell Oliver, Secretary.
Mayor Baker called upon Nell Oliver, Parks and Recreation Board Secretary to give the monthly report from the Parks and Recreation Board and on Liberty Day.
Mrs. Oliver advised the Council had been given a financial report for the Liberty Day fund with a balance of $21,069.33 and that one deposit had been made since that time for $500.00.
Mrs. Oliver also added that invoices for Liberty Day have started arrive and as of right now there is a total of $7,300.00 expenses to be paid in addition to the fireworks display cost.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 8: Consider a public hearing and ordinance to rezone property located on County Roads 597; 606; 625; and 904 from “R-2” Medium Density Residential Zoning District to “RR” Rural Residential District.
Mayor Baker declared a public hearing open to discuss rezoning property located on County Roads 597; 606; 625; and 904 from “R-2” Medium Density Residential Zoning District to “RR” Rural Residential District.
No persons appeared and the public hearing was closed.
After due and careful consideration, Ordinance No. 2007-06 was introduced and entitled “An ordinance to amend the zoning map of the Town of Cedar Bluff, Alabama and Ordinance No. 107, entitled “Town of Cedar Bluff Zoning Ordinance,” enacted pursuant to the Authority granted by Title 11-52-70, through 84, inclusive, of the Code of Alabama 1975, as amended..
A motion was made by Council Member Sprouse, seconded by Council Member Burkhalter, to adopt Ordinance No. 2007-06 as presented. Motion carried (6-0).

AGENDA ITEM NO. 10: New Business (Any matter not known about or which could not have been reasonably foreseen prior to the posting of the agenda)
In New Business, Mayor Baker addressed the Council about the small piece of property located across from the Post Office. She advised that Mr. Huey Long, owner of the property had offered to lease it to the Town for their use and the Town would also see that the property is mowed and maintained. It was the consensus of the Council that the Town has no use for the property.

AGENDA ITEM NO. 12: Citizen’s Participation (A five minute limit per person)
In Citizen’s Participation, Mr. Jerry Sprayberry inquired about the mosquitos on Hidden Cove and wanted to know when the mosquito spraying would begin. Mayor Baker advised it would be starting very soon.
Mr. Rice inquired about the possibility of rezoning property located on County Road 597.
Mr. Herb Sherwin advised the Council that the Planning Commission was in the process of working to amend the zoning ordinance of Cedar Bluff regarding the age of mobile homes.
