Lenora
McWhorter has been a resident of Cedar Bluff for the last 43 years. She is a
retired school teacher who taught Science at Cedar Bluff High School for 28
years. She was married to the late Paul K McWhorter Jr. for 51 years. Mr.
McWhorter was the owner/operator of McWhorter Hardware in Cedar Bluff. Mrs.
McWhorter has two children, Paul K McWhorter III, former Mayor and Council
Member of Cedar Bluff and Lenora M Arnold of Gadsden. Both of whom are
professional educators. She had four grandchildren. Jonathan McWhorter,
teacher and head football coach of Cedar Bluff High School, Summer
McWhorter, who is a recent law school graduate, and Kerr Arnold who is in
real estate in Birmingham. Mrs. McWhorter has one great-grandchild, Emma
Rose McWhorter.
Mrs.
McWhorter grew up in Gadsden and graduated from Gadsden High School. She is
a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in Dietetics. She has
attended Huntingdon College, Shorter College and Jacksonville State
University where she received her education certification in Biology,
Chemistry, and Health Science.
Mrs.
McWhorter is a member of the Cedar Bluff First United Methodist Church. She
is also a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s sorority.
She has served as past president of the Cherokee County Education
Association, the Cedar Bluff Woman’s Club, and Alpha Phi Social Society.
