Mark Hicks

Mark was born in Rome, Georgia on 08-09-1957. His parents lived in
Cherokee County close to Lindsey's Store on Co. Rd. 22. His Maternal
Grandparents were Claude and Rhelma Coheley of the Kirks Grove
Community. His mother is Shirley Ann (Coheley) and his Step-Father is T.J.
Stephens from Meadow, Texas. His Paternal Grandparents were Wess and
Bessie Hicks of Crossville, AL. His father was Lee Hicks. Mark's mother
attended Alexis Elementary School and Cedar Bluff High School. Mark's
parents moved to west Texas when he was young but they came back to
Cherokee County every summer to visit and Mark knew from an early age
he wanted to return to Cherokee County to live. At age sixteen he
moved back to Kirks Grove and lived with his grandfather and
grandmother Coheley. He attended Cedar Bluff High School his Junior
and Senior year and Graduated in 1976. Mark married Ellen Smith from
the Farril Community and they have one Daughter Teri Jessica Hicks.
Teri Graduated from Cedar Bluff High School in 1999 and was class
Valedictorian, she received a full Academic Scholarship to
Jacksonville State University and Graduated from there with a Degree
in Elementary Education. Mark joined the Cherokee County Sheriff's
Office in 1995 as a Reserve Deputy then went to work full time as a
Deputy Sheriff in 1996. He began as a Patrol Deputy working mostly
second shift, he worked his way up to Investigator in 2003. Mark works
mostly Identity Theft And Forgery Cases and he does administrative
duties the Sheriff And Chief Deputy assign him. Mark is now married to
Barbara (Bobbie) Combs Hicks. Her father was Clark (Judy) Combs, he
was the former Police Chief Of Cedar Bluff. Mark has always tried to
help people who need help and he chose Law Enforcement as a career. He
ran for Town Council Member to try and give something back to the Town
and try to make it a safer better place to live. Mark has numerous
relatives in Both Cherokee And DeKalb Countys, one brother Vint
(Marcelle) Hicks of Collierville, TN, and two Step Brothers Teddy and
Kent Stephens and their families in Central Texas.
