
Ethel J. Sprouse has been a resident of Cedar Bluff since moving to the
area in 1989. Mrs. Sprouse is married to J. Henry Sprouse, Jr. M.D., a retired
physician and has one child and five step children. Prior to moving to Cedar
Bluff, Mrs. Sprouse was a native of Marietta, Georgia; where she was owner and
CEO of Medical Management & Consultants, Inc. This hospital based physician
billing service was a multi million dollar company and the largest of its kind
in the Metro Atlanta Area. She attended Kennesaw State College and majored in
Business Administration. Mrs. Sprouse is currently owner of a Real Estate
Appraiser Service and active in the community. She was elected to Cedar Bluff
Town Council in 2000. She is an avid believer in education and to that end has
completed the necessary courses to be certified as an Advanced Certified
Municipal Official and Certified Alabama Planning & Zoning Official. In addition
to the above certifications, Mrs. Sprouse is active with the League of
Municipalities and serves on the League’s Economic Development Committee. Mrs.
Sprouse has completed numerous classes through the Leadership Training
Institute’s program for municipal officials as well as classes taught by the
American Planning Association. Mrs. Sprouse is currently a member of Cedar Bluff
United Methodist Church, Cedar Bluff Civitan Club, and serves as treasurer of
Centre Rotary Club. She is a member of the Cedar Bluff Utilities Board, Weiss
Lake Improvement Association, Northeast Alabama MRDD Authority, Cherokee County
Humane Society and the Democratic Executive Committee. She is a past member of
the Cherokee County Cattleman’s Association, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce
Board, Centre Rotarian of the year 2002-2003, and has served on the board of St.
Andrews Place of Birmingham, Alabama.
