CEDAR BLUFF PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

APRIL 7, 2008 AT 5:00 P.M.

 

The Cedar Bluff Planning Commission met in regular session in the Council Room at Town Hall, 3420 Spring Street, Cedar Bluff, Alabama, Monday, April 7, 2008 at 5:00 p.m., pursuant to notice duly posted as prescribed by law. Chairman Herb Sherwin presided and called the meeting to order.  Members in attendance were as follows:

Item No. 1:                                                       Call to Order

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Herb Sherwin.

 

Item No. 2:                                                       Approve minutes of the March 3, 2008 meeting

 

A motion was made by Jerry Holt, seconded by Billie Harris that the minutes be approved as presented.  Motion carried (8-0).

 

Item No. 3:                                                       Public hearing and consider rezoning property located on Old Highway 9, owned by Ethel Sprouse from “R-2” Medium Density Residential District to “HC”, Highway Commercial Zoning District.

 

Chairman Herb Sherwin opened a public hearing to consider rezoning property located on Old Highway 9, owned by Ethel Sprouse from “R-2” Medium Density Residential District to “HC”, Highway Commercial Zoning District.

No persons appeared.

After a lengthy discussion, a motion was made by Harlan Starr, seconded by Jerry Holt, to table this item to a later date.  Motion carried (8-0)

 

Item No. 4:                                                       Rezone certain property located on at 8184 Al Highway 9, owned by Ethel Sprouse from “R-R”, Rural Residential District to “HC”, Highway Commercial Zoning District.

 

Chairman Herb Sherwin opened a public hearing to consider rezoning property located at 8184 Alabama Highway 9, owned by Ethel Sprouse from “R-R” Rural Residential District to “HC”, Highway Commercial Zoning District.

 

No persons appeared.

A motion was made by Harlan Starr, seconded by Jerry Holt, to approve rezoning request and make recommendation for approval to the Town Council. Motion carried (8-0)

 

Item No. 5:                                                       Rezone certain property located on at 5015 Al Highway 9, owned by Ethel Sprouse from “R-R”, Rural Residential District to “HC”, Highway Commercial Zoning District.

 

Chairman Herb Sherwin opened a public hearing to consider rezoning property located at 5015 Alabama Highway 9, owned by Ethel Sprouse from “R-R” Rural Residential District to “HC”, Highway Commercial Zoning District.

No persons appeared.

A motion was made by W K Summers, seconded by Harlan Starr, to approve rezoning request and make recommendation for approval to the Town Council.  Motion carried (8-0)

 

Item No. 6:                                                       Public hearing and consider rezoning property located on 5080 Sewell Ferry Road, owned by James Rochester from “HC” Commercial Zoning District to “RR” Rural Residential Zoning District.

 

Chairman Herb Sherwin opened a public hearing to consider rezoning property located at 5080 Sewell Ferry Road, owned by James Rochester from “HC” Highway Commercial Zoning District to “RR”, Rural Residential Zoning District.

No persons appeared.

A motion was made by Harlan Starr, seconded by W K Summers, to approve rezoning request and make recommendation for approval to the Town Council.  Motion carried (8-0)

 

Item No. 7:                                                       Public hearing and consider amending Article II, Section 2, 2.43 of the Zoning Ordinance (A structure which complies with the definition of “manufactured home” but which was manufactured prior to June 15, 1990).

 

Chairman Herb Sherwin opened a public hearing to consider amending Article II, Section 2, 2.43 of the Zoning Ordinance (A structure which complies with the definition of “manufactured home” but which was manufactured prior to June 15, 1990).

No persons appeared.

A motion was made by Jerry Holt, seconded by Leatha Harp, to approve amendment and make recommendation for approval to the Town Council.  Motion carried (8-0)

 

Item No. 8:                                                       Old Business.

 

In Old Business, DeLana Martin inquired about creating a zone for campgrounds.

A motion was made by Jerry Holt, seconded by Leatha Harp to advertise for a public hearing to create a new zone for commercial campgrounds “CC”.  Motion carried (8-0)

 

Item No. 9:                                                       New Business

 

In New Business, it was the consensus of the Commission to begin notifying property owners adjacent to properties of all zoning requests.

 

Item No. 10:                                                     Adjournment.

 

There being no further business to come before the meeting, a motion was made by W K Summers, seconded by Harlan Starr, that the meeting be adjourned (6::01 p. m).  Motion carried (8-0).
